FabFive tips, Round 25: Staying in cup shape – News

The FabFive Challenge returns after a week off in which many of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams played in domestic cup competitions. In particular, the teams that walked away victorious from those cups are riding high and the players who shined brightest in those games should all be considered as worthy selections for FabFive Challenge in Round 25.

Though basing players’ form off of domestic games can prove tricky – not all teams can use the same rotations in all competitions, what cannot be questioned is that confidence always carries. Below are five recommended players who should all come into this week’s games feeling confident. And there are many more, so use this as a guide to choosing the FabFive that is closes to your heart… and gut!

With that in mind, here are some FabFive suggestions for Round 25:

Range 1 (0 to 3.99) – No player has been hotter for Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv over the past week than Oz Blayzer, who twice scored 19 points in pressure-packed games, including Israel’s State Cup semifinal. Might he have the confidence to shoot more against AX Armani Exchange Milan this week?

Range 2 (4 to 7.99) – After a fantastic performance for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania’s King Mindaugas Cup final on Sunday, Thomas Walkup is flying high. If any guard knows how best to attack Coach Jasikevicius’s defense, it would be Walkup, who spent the last two seasons playing for him.

Range 3 (8 to 11.99) – On Thursday, Real Madrid defeated Valencia Basket 85-74 in the quarterfinals of the Spanish King’s Cup. Valencia had no answer for Trey Thompkins, who shined in that game with 23 points. Will Valencia have an answer for him this time?

Range 4 (12 to 14.99) – FC Barcelona mowed down a pair of EuroLeague teams (and another from the 7DAYS EuroCup) en route to winning the Spanish King’s Cup over the weekend and Cory Higgins was its top weapon with an average of 19.0 points. What’s more, two of Higgins’s top scoring performances have come against this week’s opponent, Zalgiris, including a career-high 27 last season.

Range 5 (15.0 or higher) – Alexey Shved may not have played in a cup competition over the weekend, but one thing is true about him; Shved can roll out of bed and make shots. He will continue trying to light up the scoreboard and is always a good choice in the FabFive Challenge.

Good luck in Round 25!
