Quirine Comans is this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. Comans led Syracuse with three goals and an assist in a 1-1 road week for the Orange.
Comans, a native of The Hague, Netherlands, scored her first career goal in a 3-2 double over time loss on the road at No. 8 Rutgers last Friday. She added a pair of goals for her first multi-goal game of her Orange career and had one assist for five points versus No. 12 UConn on Sunday afternoon.
This marks the second time this season a member of the Syracuse field hockey team has earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Pleun Lammers was previously recognized on Aug. 31.
Comans and the Orange are 3-2 this season and moved up two spots, to No. 14, in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll announced Wednesday morning. Syracuse opens ACC play this weekend on the road at No. 3 Boston College on Friday, Sept. 17. The game, scheduled for 5 p.m., will be televised nationally on ACC Network.
