India team setback

As it stands, Ravindra Jadeja has a left knee injury and the medical team wants the player to withdraw from the ODI series in an effort not to aggravate his injury. With one of the top players missing, Rahul Dravid will now have to pick a deputy for Shekhar Dhawan.

Jadeja has been named deputy to Shikhar Dhawan in the upcoming 3-match ODI series. Reports also claim that Jadeja will likely be available for the T20I 5-match series. The last two games will be in Florida. With Jadeja absent from the action, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur are the two remaining ODI senior members of the team.

The mountain of problems for KL Rahul

KL Rahul was suffering from infections and things got worse for him after he tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. The Indian vice captain was scheduled to appear for a fitness test on Sunday. But he tested positive and now has to spend 7 days in isolation. It also means that he will miss at least his first two T20s against the West Indies.

Given the fitness issues, Rahul will miss the T20I series for India as another player could be assigned the role of interim deputy captain,

Local Boy replaces Jadeja in Nets

Although Ravindra Jadega is with the Indian team, he did not turn down and also did not participate in any training session. This forced Rahul Dravid to choose the emergency grid bowler. Although the transition from Dravid was quite abrupt, this helped the Indian hitter get used to the left spinner. Amir Ali, a young footballer in his left arm, was used by the Indian team during a training session.
